Nannette here. Directing boys’ camp is the highlight of our summers! As of 2016, we have directed Camp Liahona eight times for our church. This camp is for boys in grades 4-7. We’ve got the process of preparing and planning for camp down pretty well by now, but the hardest part of directing camp is finding people to volunteer to come and serve on staff. Since we started directing camp, the number os campers has increased significantly. Our first year we had about 20 boys come, and in the more recent years, we’ve had almost 60. Additional campers mean that we need additional counselors and staff. One year, I had asked an extra guy to come to camp, sort of as a back-up person. I didn’t know exactly what he would do, but I felt like God wanted him at camp. Fast forward to the first day of camp, and we found out that one of the counselors had double-booked himself and was not able to come to camp after all. Yikes!! With a full camp of boys, we had to have another counselor! Everything worked out perfectly, though, with our extra staff member. It ended up being such a perfect way for him to serve at camp. He did a phenomenal job as a counselor and the kids were blessed to have him. God always provides just the perfect staff each year. Even when things are looking grim (like the year our lifeguard had to back out just one week before camp), God has always provided exactly what we needed and more (we ended up with not just one, but two lifeguards that year!)
